Principal’s Message
The first month of 2019 has been an exciting one at Eagle View Elementary! On January 18, future preschool children and their adults joined the fun and games of ‘Ready, Set, Learn.’ Mrs. Coleman, Ms. Spall, Mrs. Wiersma, Mr. Galhon and Ms. Bender, along with a cohort of Grade 5 leadership students, helped plan, organize and run the activity stations. Kim Tooley and Melanie Evans-Kingston provided the PAC perspective on our wonderful school. With Colquitz Middle School hosting their information night on Wednesday, February 7 at 7:00, grade 5 students and their families are starting to think about their transitions, too.
As you know from the January newsletter, one of our main goals at Eagle View is “To extend students’ social emotional learning through the implementation of Second Step, a K-5 program that promotes school success, school connectedness and a safe, respectful school climate through encouraging empathy and developing skills in managing emotions and solving problems.” February is the perfect month for highlighting this. Throughout the month we will be featuring “How to be a good friend and demonstrate kindness.” February 14, Valentine’s Day, will be a Pink/Red/White day and February 27 will be our Pink Shirt Day Assembly.
On the athletic front, basketball continues for grade 4/5 students and their teacher coaches, Mr. Galhon and Ms. Houldsworth. Swimmers and their coach, Mrs. Wiersma, participated in the “Stand UP and Race Swim Meet” on January 20 which will be followed on Monday, February 11 with the Preliminary Swim Meet. House games continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Ms. Bender and Mr. Galhon leading the games.
