Dear Eagle View Families,
It is hard to believe that two months of school have passed. November is here and the rain has arrived as well. Students go outside for play rain or shine unless it is unsafe for them to be out there. Often students can come in wet/muddy and need a change of clothes. If you have not yet done so, please send a change of clothes for those times when the muddy buddies are just not enough.
Cross Country wrapped up this week with the final meet up at UVIC. Way to go runners. We would like to extend a HUGE “Thank You” to Mrs. Castellanos and Mrs. Jardim for sponsoring, coaching and organizing the runners. Next up is Running Club, which will begin November 4th at recess. This club will be open to all students in grade 1–5. Our kindergarten students will be invited to join in the Spring.
Black and orange day activities allowed all students to visit different classrooms to participate in a variety of Halloween crafts and games while connecting our students to other teachers in the school.
We want to thank our wonderful PAC for another successful Halloween Family Dance. Thank you for all you do providing our students and families with fun events throughout the year. Our PAC plant sales close November 6th and Purdy’s Chocolates sales close on November 17th. Get you orders in before the fundraisers close.
Our Remembrance Day Assembly is on Friday, November 8 and parents are welcome to attend. If your child belongs to Guides/Scouts/Brownies/Cubs/Cadets, they are invited to wear their uniform that day. Just a reminder that classes are not in session on November 11th to observe Remembrance Day and November 22nd, our last Pro d Day this term.
One of our wonderful Educational Assistants, Mr. Ferris, has retired from our school. We wish him all the best in his next adventures and would like to welcome Ms. Crane who joined us this week as Ms. Gardner is working temporarily at Spectrum. There will also be a few more new faces as we welcome some practicum students soon.
It has been a privilege to read with many students who are working so diligently towards their goal of becoming a better reader. Practice, practice, practice equates to reading success. We welcomed a special guest, Susan Close, who is a literacy expert working with some of our students and staff. It has been fantastic to watch those pencils fly across the page.
We wish you all a great weekend and please take some time to remember the good things in life, memories from the past and look forward with hope of good things to come.
