November 2022 Newsletter

November 4, 2022

Administrator’s Message

Dear Eagle View Families,

Here we are in November already and the rainy season is well upon us. The students have been enjoying the outside recess time, mud, ditches and puddles. If you have not yet done so, please send a change of clothes for those times when the muddy buddies are just not enough.

Cross Country wraps up today with the final meet up at UVIC. Way to go runners and a HUGE “Thank You” to Mrs. Castellanos and Mrs. Jardim for sponsoring, coaching and organizing the runners. Next up is Running Club, which will begin once the field closes. This club will be open to all students in grade 1–5. Our kindergarten students will be invited to join in the Spring. Our black and orange day activities allowed all students to visit different classrooms to participate in a variety of Halloween crafts and games.

More mulch parties coming soon to help rebuild the forest walkways. The roots of the trees are thanking all those who have helped out so far and our school community wants to thank all those who have helped to move the big pile!

We want to thank our wonderful PAC for bringing back the Halloween Family Dance. The costumes were outstanding and the activities kept everyone moving throughout the school, and reconnecting families as they laughed and ate together. Our PAC plant sales are now closed, but tomorrow you can support the bottle drive in the school parking lot and you are still able to purchase Purdy’s Chocolates for another couple of weeks.

One of our long term staff members is leaving for new adventures. We wish Crystal Pollard all the best and thank her for many years working as an educational assistant and serving on our PAC Executive. She has been instrumental in outfitting our inclusive learning spaces and we will certainly miss her. We will be welcoming Lila Gardner who will be joining our team on Monday and Joanne Bordian will be joining us later this month.

We will be having a Remembrance Day Assembly on Thursday, November 10 and parents are welcome to attend. If your child belongs to  Guides/Scouts/Brownies/Cubs/Cadets, they are invited to wear a uniform that day. Just a reminder that classes are not in session on November 11th and 14th, so enjoy the time with family.

We look forward to a strong finish to our first term. Please see the attached letter regarding the new reporting process. This is a change for all of our students and teachers as well. Please be patient as we all have new learning to do and should you have any questions, your classroom teacher is a great place to start.

Have a great weekend and take some time to remember the good things in life, memories from the past and look forward with hope of good things to come.
