May 2024 Newsletter

May 3, 2024

Administrator’s Message

Dear Eagle View Families,

As we welcomed May this week, it has been wonderful to see that sunshine! The weather will continue to be a mix throughout the spring and the children will be learning and playing outside at recess, so please be sure they are prepared with appropriate clothing for the day’s weather. This week we got caught in a hailstorm followed by a downpour of rain.  Although it was fun in many ways, it left us all quite wet.  It is extremely helpful if students have a change of clothes in their backpack for these moments.

With the start up of springtime sports and lighter evenings, please remember that getting enough sleep is essential for student learning and focus. Keeping a regular bedtime routine will help your child succeed at school each day.

The running club is back in action and it is popular!! We are impressed with the improvements from the Fall already. The kindergarten students have joined in now too and are impressively keeping up. Track and Field has also begun for grades 3-5 students. The 800m practice takes place during first recess with the running club and the 100m and relay practices take place at lunch recesses and during gym classes. We look forward to seeing the students in action at UVic at the end of May.

Wow! What a sight it was to see our students in action, leading and teaching their guests during the student-led conferences last week. Thank you for making the time to come in and celebrate their achievements thus far. We hope that this was an opportunity to reflect on their growth from the start of the year, and a time to set new goals for the remainder of this school year, especially demonstrating their successes in reading and writing!

We will be hosting our Welcome to Kindergarten event on May 13 for students who will be coming to school for the very first time! This is a fun and exciting time as the new students and their families begin to make connections with our school community.

Have a wonderful weekend and rain or shine—we hope you make time to enjoy the great outdoors!

Mrs. Relf & Mrs. Dann
