EVE May newsletter 2018

Principal’s Message

Dear Eagle View Families,

May is the month of transition and the month to celebrate the community we so much cherish at Eagle View.

First, we begin our official welcome of new students to Eagle View for the 2018/19 school year: our new 4 and 5 years olds will join us, along with their parents, for an afternoon session at Kindergarten Orientation on Friday, May 11. Families will have received an invitation to attend one of two sessions. As new students come in, we also seek to provide a successful transition for those students leaving Eagle View. Grade 5 students participate in an Orientation afternoon on Thursday, May 17. Students going to our family school, Colquitz, will go by bus from Eagle View. Parents of grade 5 students going to middle schools other than Colquitz, should make personal arrangements. Please contact the school if you have any questions about transition!

We are so fortunate to have such a supportive school community at Eagle View. Parents help in so many ways: assisting on field trips; contributing to special classroom tasks and presentations; organizing special lunches each week; fundraising and contributing to fundraising through purchases! This May, we have the big event! Thursday, May 17 is the Hawaiian Spring Fair! Don your wildly colored floral shirts. Put on your sunglasses! Wristband Presales continue until May 11 ($20) and then are available at the door ($25.) Our PAC and, specifically, the small, but efficient Spring Fair Organizing Committee, have put together a wonderful list of fun activities. Please watch out for upcoming information on how to volunteer for the Spring Fair!

Just to keep things moving swiftly … the running continues at Eagle View! Grades 3, 4, and 5 students are rounding up another season of Cross Country Running just in time to start track! The Zone Track Meet is at Centennial Stadium on Tuesday, May 29. Thank you to Ms. Houldsworth and Mr. Nast for coaching. The City Finals, for those that qualify, are scheduled for Thursday, May 31 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at UVIC’s Centennial Stadium..

Sincerely,

Ms. Lois Bender
