March 2021 Newsletter

March 5, 2021

Administrator’s Message

Dear Eagle View Families,

February has flown by and Spring Break is just around the corner.  As the weather is getting warmer, more class time has moved to the outdoors.  It is wonderful to see the kindergarten students spend an entire afternoon outside, clipboards in hand and fully engaged in their learning.  Ms. Houldsworth continues to have the Physical Education classes outside whenever they can which included the ‘Coldest Night of the Year’ walk.  We are so fortunate to work in our forest, learn at the outdoor classroom or picnic tables and explore the neighbourhood with walks around the school.

The schoolyard is starting to dry out, for which we are thankful, and the students are looking forward to using the field soon.  Their creative play has blossomed as spring approaches with new games and play that stretches their imagination.  It is not uncommon to see a piece of bark being used as a cell phone, puddles being made into delicious soup and homes being built for little creatures that can not be seen by the naked eye.

This also is the time of year to reflect and review student progress.  The teachers have been working on report cards which will be coming home next Friday and we hope you take time to celebrate your child’s success and help them create goals for the final term.  As a school, we are also taking time to reflect on student achievement by reviewing our goals, looking at assessment tools and examining the data to ensure we are meeting the needs of our learners.

Finally, we want to thank you for doing your best to keep us all safe.  Thank you for wearing a mask, thank you for keeping your distance, thank you for not gathering on the school grounds and thank you for finding things to do with your children when play dates are not possible.  YOU ARE AWESOME!!

We want to wish you and your family a Happy Spring Break!
