Administrator’s Message
Dear Eagle View Families,
February was the month for many “kindness challenges” which led into “mindful March challenges.” It has been wonderful to see students stop and take time to be grateful and thankful and consider others needs before themselves. Thank you to our student leadership team for initiating this project and sharing kindness tips at our Pink Day Assembly. Also, at the same assembly, many thanks goes out to Mrs. Coleman’s kindergarten class who sang “I’d like to Teach the World to Sing in Perfect Harmony” and the grade 2,3,4,5 choir who performed “Big Yellow Taxi!” We have such talented students here at Eagle View.
Children also learned about cooperation, team play and sportsmanship (as well as honing in on athletic skills!) in several ways. Eagle View Swim Club members represented our school in both the Preliminary and City Swim Meets. (Thanks to Coach Wiersma and Coach Ottenbreit!) The grade 4/5 basketball team put the balls in the hoop at the basketball Jamboree. (Thanks to Coach Galhon.)
Several classes went to UVIC to hear the symphony in February and others were learning about the ecosystem on the Gorge waterway. Next week, Monday, March 9th, our Concert Ukulele Group will be performing at Vic High as they join other ukulele students from across the district at “Ukuleles Unlimited.” This consists of students from Kindergarten to grade 12 and showcases the various levels of skill development in our schools. On Wednesday, March 11th the choir will be singing at our Spectrum family of school’s music night at Colquitz Middle School starting at 6:30. This is open to all, no tickets are necessary. We look forward to having Langley Secondary School band come and visit us when we return from the break.
We want to wish you and your family a Happy Spring Break!
Mr. Galhon and Mrs. Relf
