Principal’s Message
Dear Eagle View Families,
February has been a month of “sharing, caring and moving!”
Thank you to the many families who joined in on the fun during the two days of Student Led Conferences. What pride the children took in sharing their learning and daily activities! Thanks, as well, to the team of parents who organized the Scholastic Book Fair and especially our grand organizer, parent, Mel Evans. The fair helps boost reading opportunities for children both at home and at school; EVE library benefits from the sales, too!
Throughout the month, students highlighted and celebrated kindness and caring. In addition to Valentine’s Day projects, students created art on the theme of kindness. These kindness displays were featured on hallway bulletin boards and as welcoming displays for our February 27 “Be a Good Friend” Assembly. Thank you to the students and staff of divisions 2, 4, 5 and 10 for sharing poems, videos and songs at that assembly. Particular thanks to our University of Victoria Teacher Candidates, Sarah Gauvin, Shayna Plotnikoff, Megan Ruck and Alexis Thonger who designed and coached these presentations.
Children also learned about cooperation, team play and sportsmanship (as well as honing in on athletic skills!) in several ways. Eagle View Swim Club members represented our school in both the Preliminary and City Swim Meets. (Thanks to Coach Wiersma!) The grade 4/5 basketball team put the balls in the hoop during several games with other schools. (Thanks to Coach Galhon.)
The fun and learning continues as we move into March. We wish you and your family a Happy Spring Break!
Sincerely,
Lois Bender
Principal
