Administrators’ Message
Welcome 2026!!
It is great to see everyone back and refreshed from the break. We hope you all had time to relax with family and friends.
Exciting things have started here at school as we move further into Term 2! Students and staff are participating in our “Great Pen Pal” project– a whole school writing collaboration with Tillicum Elementary School. Pure joy has been reported when students receive “real mail” and get to open and read special messages from other students their age! This project helps develop writing skills, builds communication skills and supports making new friends within our SD61 learning community. A way to support at home is to think of a relative or a friend who your child could send a letter or a postcard to in order to practice their writing skills.
If you have not done so already, please review your child’s Learning Update that was released on December 12th. Learning Updates can be accessed through our Parent Connect porthole. If you are having trouble using the Parent Connect portal, please call the office for assistance. We can help you on a computer at school and walk you step by step through the process. Parent Connect is the same place you go to give your child permission to access programs at school, use technology, etc.
House games will be starting this month for Grade 5 students. Thank you to Mr. Rutherford for organizing this lunch time event. Basketball will also be starting this month for intermediate students. Thank you to Mr. Forte, Miss Woogman, and Mrs. Beiermeister for coaching the team. Walking Wednesdays begins next week where students can walk around the school, chat and view different scenery. Those interested will meet at the flagpole at 12:10. Boardgame Club will continue for a few more weeks.
Just a reminder that on Monday, January 26th school is not in session for students. We hope the day can be spent with family and suggest making reading a part of your day as we approach Family Literacy Day on Tuesday, January 27th! To celebrate Family Literacy we will be having a spirit day – Dress as Your Favorite Book Character. Please see the ‘Library’ section of our newsletter for more details.
On behalf of the entire staff at Eagle View, we wish for you a healthy, joyous and adventure filled 2026!!
Sincerely,
Jana and Christina
