Administrators’ Message
Happy New Year & welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and were able to spend some quality time with family and friends. Students are back into their daily routines and continue working towards their academic goals.
As this is our first newsletter since Christmas, we must acknowledge how much the performances were enjoyed and appreciated by all. Thank you for taking the time to watch it. If you didn’t get a chance to see it, let the school office know and we can send you the link. We are thankful that Mr. Greig was able to put it all together for us.
We would like to welcome NEW STAFF who joined our team in December. Mrs. Raj Lamond will be working with our Early Language Learners on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and teaching in Division 1 on Thursday mornings. Mrs. Christine Wichmann will be working in Mrs. Christoff’’s room as an Educational Assistant and Mr. Orry Lornson is our new evening Custodian. We will also be welcoming UVIC and UBC students, Lauren Tomic and Will Ballard, who are completing their final practicums in Ms. Sharratt’s and Mr. Galhon’s room.
With the new year we often focus on goals and this year it is no different. The staff are looking forward to the upcoming Professional Development Day where we are doing a deep dive into Literacy, looking at new research, new resources and updated assessment tools. It is important to all of us that when students leave Eagle View, they are all reading at grade level. At home, you can support our reading focus with regular trips to the Greater Victoria Public Library once a month. Also Mrs. Restell continually updates our Eagle View Library website with many resources to supplement your child’s education. Check it out!
Many students have also been revisiting their goals. We encourage you to ask your child regularly about their strengths, stretches and plans to grow their learning. Should these conversations lead to questions, the classroom teacher is always available to provide answers regarding student growth.
Just a reminder that on January 25 there is no school in session for students. We hope you enjoy family time together and may we suggest reading as part of your day.
On behalf of the staff at Eagle View, we wish you and your families the all the best in 2021.
Sincerely,
Sanjiv and Jana
