January 2020 Newsletter

January 10, 2020

Administrators’ Message

Happy New Year & welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and were able to spend some quality time with family and friends. Students are back into their daily routines and continue working towards their academic goals.

As this is our first newsletter since Christmas, we must acknowledge how much the performances were enjoyed and appreciated by all. Staff and students invested considerable time and effort into two first-rate performances.

We would also like to welcome Raj Lamond who has joined our staff for the next 5 months. She will be working with our Early Language Learners on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and also with Division 1 on the first Thursday of each month. We also welcome Mami Harada as she completes her Educational Assistant Practicum and Megan Mohan, a UVIC student teacher completing her final practicum in Mr. Galhon’s room.

With the new year we often focus on goals and this year it is no different. The staff are currently reflecting on the draft of a new Greater Victoria School District Strategic Plan. Input from our school community is an important component to this process as it will be the force that directs our district in our next steps. Parents thoughts, ideas and considerations are valued too. If you would like to see the draft plan and provide feedback to the school district, please drop by the office and talk with Sanjiv or Jana. We will then forward your comments to the district by the end of the month.

Many students have also been revisiting their goals. We encourage you to ask your child regularly about their strengths, stretches and plans to grow their learning. Should these conversations lead to questions, the classroom teacher is always available to provide answers regarding student growth.

The fun and learning continues at Eagle View for both students and staff. A reminder that on January 27 there is no school in session for students. Staff, however, have chosen this day, specific to Eagle View, to continue our school goals as a team.

On behalf of the staff at Eagle View, we wish you and your families the all the best in 2020.

Sincerely,

Sanjiv and Jana
