Administrators Message
As we welcome February, we are already halfway through the school year and have much to celebrate in our students’ growth and learning accomplishments. February is Kindness Month, and we will hold our annual Pink Shirt Day and Kindness Assembly on Wednesday, February 25. This year Divisions 7-13 will be presenting or performing, and parents and guardians are welcome to attend. While this month highlights kindness, it is a value we practice all year long.
Students continue to grow as readers and writers. This month, we celebrate literacy with books about kindness and community. Some of our favourite books about kindness are: Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud, Kindness is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler by Margery Cuyler, Wonder by R.J. Palacio and Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson. Our students are also taking part in a Pen Pal Project, writing letters to other students in the SD61 community. This helps them practice writing while spreading kindness beyond our school! Families can support literacy at home by writing together: Try short letters, thank-you notes, or stories about kind acts! Reading in the community: Visit the library, choose a book together, or attend local story times.
On February 4, our whole school participated in Global Play Day! It was a wonderful success, giving students time to lead their own learning through creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. These hands-on play experiences support social, emotional, and cognitive growth while reminding us how powerful play is in helping students learn and thrive.
The annual transfer week process for students wishing to attend a school outside of their catchment is from February 9-12. Families can submit transfer applications for the 2026-27 school year during this time. Please visit the SD61 website for detailed information. Kindergarten registration has now concluded and we are looking forward to welcoming our 2026-2027 Kindergarten students to our Welcome to Kindergarten events starting in May.
Finally, students will enjoy a four day weekend with a Professional Development day on Friday, February 13 followed by Family Day on Monday, February16.
Thank you to all of you as you partner in our shared work to support kindness and learning. Together Eagle View students continue to soar!
