Principal’s Message
Welcome Back everyone! Spring blossoms, daffodils and tulips signal that spring has finally arrived at Eagle View.
Eagle View students in grade 3, 4 and 5 are ready to seize the warmer days. Ms. Bender, Ms. Rimek and Ms. Houldsworth pulled the Cross Country Team together and we have started to practice running for the spring season. Cross Country blends right into the Track season so our runners will have a head start there, too! We are also thrilled to have a rugby team this year! With a solid group of boys and girls, Mr. Galhon and community coaches are teaching the game, and preparing for a few friendly/competitive games with other elementary schools.
We received some exciting news for Eagle View this past month! Eagle View is one of ten Vancouver Islands schools awarded a grant to create a new playground! The playground will focus on bringing a more accessible learning environment to Eagle View students . $105 000 will go a long way to helping us achieve our Eagle View playground dream. We hope to top it up with funds the PAC has already earmarked for this purpose. We also hope that our upcoming Walk-A-Thon (stay tuned for details!) will help raise some money that can further be thrown into the plan. The Playground Committee looks forward to reviewing, designing and deciding what this new playground will feature. If you are interested in this topic, please contact our PAC to provide input.
A reminder: Friday, April 12 is Curriculum Planning Day so there is no school in session. Among other things, staff will be looking at bringing a new “Maker Space” learning environment to Eagle View students. We wish you the best over the 4 day weekend spanning the Easter break.
Sincerely,
Lois Bender, Principal
