November 2017 Newsletter

November 3, 2017

Principal’s Message EVE November newsletter 2017

What an exciting month October has been for the students and staff at Eagle View Elementary! Children settled into classroom routines and are clearly active, engaged learners. Families and teachers have had the opportunity to share progress and plan goals through Meet the Teacher Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences, IEP meetings and informal conversations; student success has been at the heart of all of these connections.

Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 got moving, increased fitness and practiced good sportsmanship in a variety of ways. Our Fall Cross Country Season ended with the grand finale at Beacon Hill Park on October 23. Eagle View runners put forth their best efforts as they raced in this meet involving all School District 61 schools. Also, a strong team of soccer players demonstrated skills and athleticism at a Spectrum Family of Schools Soccer Jamboree on October 26. A large thank you goes to Ms. Houldsworth as coach and EVE parent volunteers who were drivers, marshals, and helped in a multitude of ways.

Recently, primary students shone as they sang songs, recited poetry, acted in skits and sang in the Eagle View Choir. Watching these students in our Harvest Assembly was such a joy. Thank you to the staff members who prepared the students, allowing them to present with confidence. Special thanks to Mrs. MacDonald for organizing this assembly, to Mrs. Griffin for leading the drama team, and to Ms. Houldsworth and Mrs. Wiersma for inspiring our choir members.

As we move into November, the Eagle View Swim Club members start refining their strokes and building endurance. This club is open to any student who feels comfortable in deep water and can comfortably swim 25 meters. Stay tuned for more details! Floor hockey for grade 3’s is also up and running.

Finally, we welcome everyone to our Remembrance Day Assembly, scheduled for Friday, November10 at 10:45. If your child belongs to Guides/Scouts/Brownies/Cubs and would like to wear a uniform that day, he/she is welcome to do so.

Sincerely,
Lois Bender, Principal
