Administrator’s Message
Dear Eagle View Families,
Where has the time gone… we have already completed two months of the school year. November is here and the rain has arrived as well. Students go outside for play rain or shine unless it is unsafe for them to be out there. Often students can come in wet/muddy and need a change of clothes. If you have not yet done so, please send a change of clothes for those times when the muddy buddies are just not enough.
Cross Country wrapped up this week with the final meet up at UVIC. Way to go runners. We would like to extend a HUGE “Thank You” to Mrs. Jardim, Mrs. Johnston and Mrs. Castellanos for sponsoring, coaching and organizing the runners. Next up is Running Club, which began November 4th at recess. This club will be open to all students in grades 1–5. Our kindergarten students will be invited to join in the Spring.
Thank you to our fantastic PAC for organizing the Halloween Family Dance/Event. We want to thank you for providing our students and families with fun events throughout the year. The pumpkin walk was a new and glowing experience that showcased community carvers and their creativity. It was truly beautiful! The following week brought us “Black and Orange Day” activities. All students had the opportunity to visit different classrooms and participate in a variety of Halloween crafts and games while connecting them with other teachers and places in our school. A wonderfully busy October!
Our Remembrance Day Assembly is on Monday, November 10 and parents are welcome to attend. If your child belongs to Guides/Scouts/Brownies/Cubs/Cadets, they are invited to wear their uniform that day. Just a reminder that classes are not in session on November 11th to observe Remembrance Day and November 21st, our last Pro d Day this term.
We welcome Mrs. Parvizi-Thompson, a new EAG at our school until the end of May and Ros Mancilla Esquivel who will be with us until the winter break. We also welcome Oleksandra Voloshanina as a new EAG position at Eagle View.
Everyday Reading Club is up and running and it is exciting to see students progressing in their reading. As we continue to work on our school goal of improving our reading and writing skills, please remember to go to the public library and take out books, write an aunt, uncle, relative or friend and drop it in a mailbox. Imagine the JOY of receiving real, tangible mail and the anticipation of a reply. Our students will soon be starting on a pen pal journey here at school. Be sure to ask them who they are writing to and read with your child 10 minutes a day. Thanks for partnering together with us and helping us work towards being more successful readers and writers.
We wish you all a great weekend and please take some time to remember the good things in life, memories from the past and look forward with hope of good things to come.
