Dear Eagle View Families,
As April arrives, we are back in to the swing of things here at Eagle View. The first week presented us with every type of weather imaginable as our students ventured outside to rekindle relationships after being apart for two weeks. In the classroom, they continue to focus on our school goals around reading as we work towards all students reading at grade level and beyond as well as developing writing strategies that increase meaning. As the school is opening up, we are looking for parents/grandparents/guardians to listen to some of our students read. If you are able to commit to being a regular reading buddy, please send an email to jrelf@sd61.bc.ca and we will connect regarding the process.
As term two concluded and we read through report cards, it was noticeable that Eagle View has amazing mathematicians. If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher. Student Led conferences are on the horizon. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to share and show their learning with you in person. Teachers are in the process of planning so stay tuned for the details as they unfold.
Next Thursday, our PAC is hosting a fun-filled day of Spring themed activities for all classes. On behalf of all our students, we want to say thank you to our hardworking PAC— you are fantastic! This month’s PAC meeting will be in person in the school library. If you are available next Wednesday night, please come and join them. We know they have more events ahead that will need parent volunteers.
Student leadership met this week and they are excited to be helping out on the kindergarten playground again and look forward to Spring Running Club which will start the end of April. They will be introducing Shlockey soon but they are seeking some hockey sticks. If you have any lying around at home and would like to donate them, the leadership team would be delighted to receive them. A couple of other requests: outdoor stain to seal the Shlockey boards and 30 minute or less board games would all be appreciated. Please drop off any of these donations in the office. Leadership students will also help out with the Book Fair which happens during the last week of April. Spectrum’s athletic leadership students are here every week on Tuesdays to play games in the gym. It is wonderful to see all the leadership students showing their skills through this act of service. Thank YOU!
Our forest area and field are still very wet, however we have the opportunity to receive free wood chips to rejuvenate the forest area. If a couple of adults would like a work out that benefits the school, please call the office for details.
So we welcome a new term, a new season and new adventures! Thank you families for being such an important part of this journey.
