Principal’s Message
Dear Eagle View Families,
The calendar page has turned and fall is upon us and what a positive start we’ve had to a new school year! It has been so wonderful to meet your happy and friendly children. Each day I get to know a few more, listen to their stories and learn a little bit more about them.
We kicked off the year with the “Terry Fox Run.” Thank you to the staff who organized and supported this event as well as our community who generously donated to this charity. Next week we are collecting “Coins for the Cure” to support the 2019 Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock and will present them with a cheque at an upcoming assembly.
As children have settled into learning in their classrooms, our school community has rallied forth to continue to build school culture. We had a great turn out to the September PAC meeting and encourage all to attend upcoming meetings. A BIG thank you to those PAC members and parents who helped organize and run our highly successful Welcome Back BBQ!
Eagle View staff members have also started work on a number of extra activities: Professional Development Committee, Staff Committee, Numeracy Committee, Social Responsibility Committee. Athletic opportunities for grades 3, 4 and 5 have started with Fall Cross Country (coached by Ms. Houldsworth) and Soccer (coached by Mr. Galhon.) The choir season will be beginning soon!
Please see our calendar if you are interested in attending Eagle View assemblies or special performances. We always welcome guests. Last Monday we had an Orange Day assembly where we acknowledged the importance of empathy and the Harvest Assembly is fast approaching.
Finally, to continue to keep everything running smoothly, a reminder to review the Eagle View Code of Conduct (on the school website) with your child(ren). A few areas where we need your help:
– Please remind your children to always use crosswalks and to always WALK skateboards, scooters or bicycles when on school property. Our many little ones, including visiting toddlers, don’t expect these students on wheels to go whizzing by.
– We have very limited and short after school supervision. Please ensure that you have collected your children as close to 2:38 as possible. If students wish to stay to play after 3:00, an adult should be present with them.
– We also have very limited parking and some staff members are not able to find a spot when returning to the school after a meeting off site. Please be mindful of where you park.
At Eagle View, we encourage our children to be Respectful, Responsible and Safe at all times!
We appreciate your support and look forward to fantastic year of learning at Eagle View!
Mrs. Relf, Principal
