We need your support! In the event of any emergency, planning, and, specifically, a reunification process is essential. Please help us practice this by attending two events: Wed., May 23 6:30 – 8:00 is PARENT INFORMATION Evening on Emergency Planning (EAGLE VIEW SCHOOL); Friday, May 25 1:00 – 2:30 is Eagle View Earthquake Reunification Drill. At the Parent Information Evening, we will be engaged in a workshop led by Marketa Lund. Also, as described in letters sent home, we ask parents/designates to collect their children between 1:00 and 2:30 on Friday for the drill itself. On Friday, parents/designates will be instructed by “Greeters” on how to go to the “Check-In” gate and then the “Release Gate.” Once we have confirmed that the adult is listed on the student release form (the parent/designate must bring ID), a runner matches child to adult. If you are unable to participate in this drill, remaining students will be dismissed as usual at 2:38.
On another topic … interested in the Greater Victoria School District review of Catchment Boundaries? SD 61 recognizes that there are some areas of View Royal where populations have increased significantly within the current elementary school catchment boundaries that were established over ten years ago. You may wish to hear more about this by attending a meeting on Thursday, May 31 at 6:30 pm at Eagle View. Updated information will be shared. There will also be an opportunity for you to share specific neighbourhood considerations related to this issue.
